Intercultural Human Rights Law Review Symposium

Fri Oct 21 2022 8:00AM – 11:30AM | Fri Oct 21 2022

Event Description:

IHRLR will host a symposium exploring the topic - The Corporate Duty: Global Agents for Human Rights? Corporations impact human rights in many different facets of life. Employees, local and foreign communities, and the environment are all potential victims of corporate activity. Numerous efforts have been imposed to mitigate business operations to protect against human rights abuse in all types of enterprises. The longstanding practice has been for corporations to honor their voluntary initiatives. Corporate complicity in human rights abuse goes beyond the drive to increase profits but often oversteps into a fashion of corruption resulting in forced labor, breaches of privacy, war crimes, and broken supply chains. Corporate responsibility should walk in alignment with respecting human rights. Noting that the intersection of business and human rights has transformed over the years, now is the time for collective action and commitment in our post-pandemic world.
